Education in its broadest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.
The educational system in Bangladesh is three-tiered and highly subsidized. The government of Bangladesh operates many schools in the primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels. It also subsidizes parts of the funding for many private schools.
Education in Bangladesh has evolved in terms of languages of instruction, governance of schools and pedagogical methods. Early education in Bengal was once intertwined with Indian and Islamic Madrasah education. Major changes coincided with the onset of British rule, the creation of Pakistan and the establishment of an independent Bangladesh.
